Blackbird, Fly

I bought a Blackbird, Fly twin-lens reflex camera about a couple of months ago. I honestly don't remember when it was, but this is the first chance I've had to scan some photos in. Jeff and Ivan have been playing around with the camera at the farmer's market and at the air show we went to.

The photos I scanned are pretty over exposed and took some work to balance out. I'll have to do some test scans of the other roll of film and see how those turned out. Maybe its too bright to use ISO 400 film? Well, that just means I'll have to play around with it more and find out. I kind of like when things don't work out perfectly, because I like figuring out what went wrong.

200th Post

Damn, I knew my 200th post was coming up soon. Too bad there isn't something significant to say. I still need to write up my justification to get work to reimburse me for grad school. This week has been so exhausting.

200 Cigarettes is the thing I came up with for the 200th post. I don't even remember much of the movie I saw it so long ago, but it will have to do. Here is Harvey Danger covering the English Beat's "Save It For Later".

Weakly Update

This sounds like a bunch of excuses that I haven't posted lately. I haven't had time to update (and there are a ton of airshow photos to post).

Tonight was the second time I DJed for the Orlando Psycho City Derby Girls' practice. I just decided to volunteer my Tuesday nights and its really fun. I am hoping to get some cool photo opportunities. I got two new lenses for my Diana F+.

I got a 110mm lens for getting better shots from a distance and a 38mm lens for wide angle shots. I'm planning on taking them to the burlesque show this Thursday to play around with them. Shiny Toy Guns are playing here tomorrow night, but I have not decided if I am going to see them or not. I am busy every night this week.

Mr. Moonlight

Here are a few photos of me screwing around with the shutter release cable and the pinhole setting on the Diana. Its hard to tell, but these are photos of the full moon last month at different lengths of exposure. I don't remember which was which, but I played around with durations of about 30 seconds to around 30 minutes. All three photos are from my deck over looking the lake behind the house.

The photos are longer exposures (the top was the shortest and the bottom photo was the longest). The longest exposure almost looks like dim daylight.

Color Filters

I complained about the light leaks in my last post. I have to say that they make a great contrast against the cool colored filters. There is also a photo of Jeff monkeying around with my Black Bird, Fly camera mixed in there. Thanks Ivan for taking some of these awesome photos!

I have been listening to Empire Ants more than any song on Plastic Beach. To me the song kind of feels like flying through sunshine. So, it was perfect to listen to while cleaning up these photos. The over-saturated colors went along with the part that Little Dragon sings.
