Awesome Abeyance

I decided to get the F' out of Dodge rather than working both days this weekend. I was kind of thinking out loud about going to St. Pete on Friday. When Kiet gave me a swift kick in the ass and told me to just go. It was great, the drive over there only took an hour and a half. I somehow missed the Friday traffic through Tampa. I drove back to Orlando in another 1.5 hours and made it to work just before 2:00. It was great to take a little trip instead of working both Saturday and Sunday. All was well until my Sun Chips got stuck in the vending machine...

100th Post!

I started this blog back in June of '07. I am finally at 100 posts, and it feels like the time has flown by. I am glad to see that readers from all around the world are finding my blog online and taking the time to see what is going on in my life. I can't wait to see what the next 100 entries are going to be about!

Jive Turkey

Thanksgiving just passed and I am having a hard time believing that it is already December. Here are some photos from the beach, Ybor, and goth / industrial night at the Castle.

Strange Dreams

Sometime this morning I dreamt that Sarah and I were at some club. Sombre Detune (by Royksopp) was playing and Sarah really liked it. Well, in my dream I thought to myself, "She is going to think I am soooo cool because I was just listening to this song in my car. And when we leave here, we'll get in my car, she'll hear the same song, and she'll be impressed at my musical taste." I don't remember the rest of the dream. This morning, I got in my car, and when I started it, Sombre Detune was playing. I don't know why in my dream I remembered that was the last song that was playing in the car.

I also dreamt that I was in Europe with my mom, dad, and sister. We were in a rail station trying to catch a train to somewhere. I think France. But the trains were Disney World monorail looking things. But they were open top and only had 6 seats and a second flatbed car for luggage. I was worried because the luggage car had no sides and thought that the luggages would fall off somewhere along the way.

Project Sketchbook

Project Sketchbook is a great way for artists to get their work seen. You register, and they send you a sketchbook to fill up until the Feb. 15th deadline. Then the you mail the sketchbook back, and they take it on tour to Atlanta, Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, and Brooklyn.

I just completed my registration! I think this will be some great motivation for me to get out and draw everyday. I'll post the drawings here as I work on them. The schedule for the tour is listed on the Project Sketchbook page.

This Past Week

I spent my off Friday waiting in line to vote and getting everything ready for the Halloween party. Downtown was jam packed, but we all still managed to have a blast. Saturday we went roller skating. Then we spent Sunday and Monday at the Magic Kingdom, EPCOT, Animal Kingdom, and the Animal Kingdom Lodge.

Jack-O-Lantern Weather

A year has passed since the last time I took a knife to a pumpkin. It hardly seems like it was a week ago. I didn't really have any brilliant ideas pop in my head. But this is what I came up with...

Old Costumes

Making costumes is so much fun. I haven't really "made" one in quite a while. Of course, the two I really enjoyed making (Strider and the Moonraker costumes), I don't really have any photos of. Here are some of the photos I do have.

Sunset Strip

The past 5 or so weekends have been incredible. I went to a yoga class Saturday morning. It was a bit of a struggle for me. But it was worth the great feeling I had all day throughout my entire body. We also got to check out a Hipster Indoor Yard Sale which was a lot of fun. Below is a photostrip of Sarah and I watching the sunset. It wasn't actually as amusing as our reactions in the photos may lead one to believe.

The Out of Towner

This past month I've been out of town almost every weekend. I don't remember spending so much time at my parents' house in years. It's been soooo worth it though. I've also noticed what a rut I had been in. I feel like my weekends were spent just killing time between the working weeks. Lately, I have felt like I control my weekends and I've been making the most out of them. And now the work week flies by and I live in full anticipation of the next weekend.

Jury Duty

So, I'll admit I wasn't happy when I was summoned to go to jury duty. I have gone once before and was disappointed at how over-theatrical the whole process was. Not that it was the courts fault. It was just the people involved in the case, including the lawyers. I really felt like it had been a waste of my time. I think I'd be a great juror. I pay attention to details, I am good at figuring things out, and I think I am very fair. I felt like the fiasco I had witnessed was a waste of my time.

I was worried today that it might be a repeat. I figured I'd just bring my sketch book and hope for the best. It turned out really well. I was only randomly picked for one jury selection, and I was not picked to be on the jury. I was relieved. Listening to the questions the lawyers asked during the process led me to believe I was in for the same kind of spectacle I had witnessed 9 years ago. In fact, the defense compared the scenario to the Jerry Springer show. Is this really what the tax payer's money goes to? Its such a shame. Anyway, I got to sit around, listen to music, and sketch most of the day. So, I can't complain about getting paid to do that. Here are my drawings from today.

Disney Drollery

This weekend was spent playing around at Disney. Not just one park, but all of them! It is rather exhausting to have endless hours of fun at so many locations, but we pulled it off. My only regret was not getting a good picture from Spaceship Earth. Here is another strip of photos.

Pictures from Europe Part 1

As I was looking through my blog, I realized I never posted any pictures I took in Italy. I know it was like two years ago. But some of them came out really great, so why not share them?
