Shots From A Farmer's Market

I took my second attempt at playing around with the Holga Color Filters I got for my birthday.

The first attempt was a blurry, under exposed stroll around Lake Eola. So, I waited for a sunny occasion (hence the drastic light leaks) to try the filters out again. The light leaks are a bit too much (I usually like the accent they add) in my opinion. I am not sure if the scanner auto-balances the color on some of them. I thought it would be cool to stick the plastic filters in front of my iPhone. The iPhone software corrects the color shift, so there is no fun to be had there. More photos are on the way, I need to get some sleep.

I really enjoy the skeleton costumes and the spastic dancing in this vid.

Manufactured Landscapes

This weekend I watched the documentary Manufactured Landscapes by photographer Edward Burtynsky on Netflix. I was impressed by the sheer scale of the factory in the opening sequence. But it was nothing compared to the horrible defacement to the land that man is capable of.

The Sandpit

The Sandpit by Sam O'Hare is pretty amazing. I watched a brief part of it the other day. I finally had a chance to watch the entire thing. View it on Vimeo to see it in HD.

Burlesque Photos (Part Trois)

The last of the burlesque photos from February. I went to Dr. Sketchy tonight at Tatame Lounge. There's nothing like drawing in a small sketchbook with a dull pencil in a dark corner 30 feet away from the model while drinking sake. If I look at my sketchbook tomorrow and decide there is anything worth posting, I'll put it up here. I also took some photos with good old Holga. I'll post them sometime as well.

Masamune Shirow

My brother got me 3/4 of the Intron Depot art books for my bday. They've been out of print for a while, but I knew he'd have no problem tracking them down online. Looking through them reminded me how much I admired Masamune Shirow's artwork back when I was in school. It seems so foreign to me that a lot of it was done before a lot of digital processes I am accustomed to were readily available.

Shirow is probably best known for his Ghost in the Shell story.

I finally had the chance to watch the Gorillaz Stylo video (follow the link to the video, embedding is disabled). It debuted on YouTube earlier this week. I'd say that it's quirky, but what else would one expect?

I do love the muscle cars in there.

Dirty Diana

I went to a burlesque show at the Peacock Room this past Thursday. I was anxious to use my Diana with the ring flash again. I took some photos (which I have yet to upload) at the BoldHype gallery last weekend. I was disappointed that the photos came out kind of dark. As always, I was anxious to experiment and figure out how to fix the dark photos. I picked up some higher speed film and shot a couple of rolls at the burlesque show (which was so much fun). I played around with multiple exposures, holding the shutter open, and whatever else I could think of. I enjoy the mixture of motion and color. Here are the first of the photos.
