Somewhere

Somewhere (Trailer) - Sofia Coppola

I like the version of You Only Live Once (The Strokes) in the trailer. I am curious to see what I think of the film since the trailer is pretty ambiguous.

Birthday Weekend

These three drawings are from figure drawing this morning. I have had such a great birthday weekend. There will be photos of the Black Valentine's party soon.

I got to go out for my birthday last night and dance to some of my favorite 80's music. I didn't get to hear OMD, but I thought this song was fitting for today.

At the cemetry gates...

A dreaded sunny day
So let's go where we're happy
And I meet you at the cemetry gate
s

- The Smiths

Here are some photos from a while ago. I finally got the negatives scanned in. I'll probably end up posting the two rolls of film over a few posts. This has been such a weird weekend.

There are some strange videos out there. I don't mean strange as in "interesting". Here is an odd video for Cemetry Gates.

Ballerina Out Of Control

Here are a couple of 20 minute poses from figure drawing this morning. I've gone two Sundays this year. I am trying to be more consistent in going. I can't wait until I feel more confident with my mark making. It makes a big difference.

Strange Highs and Strange Lows

Party out in the middle of nowhere, bad movie, Nyquil, walk in the park at midnight. And finally, some more photos.

This last photo was me experimenting with the pinhole setting on my Diana. I am looking forward to trying it out some more.

I love this song/video, and I would listen to it over and over and over. I used to have a crush on the first girl in the video. For some reason Warner Bros. and Sire Records don't want people embedding videos.

I used toooo much Icy Hot

My back is kind of tight and crampy. Probably from sitting in front of a computer all day. I found the deodorant stick of Icy Hot in my gym bag that got melted sitting out in my car. It was melted to the side and way past the top edge of the plastic applicator thing. Anyway, I threw caution to the wind and put some on. Too much on in fact.

On a completely unrelated note, Pandora made me sick of hearing the Arctic Monkeys. But Jeff and I threw together a playlist this weekend, and I heard one of their songs that I really like.

Lots of Things Going On (+ more photos)

I have finally had some time to work on things now that Halloween has come and gone. I need to get some photos up from last weekend. It was quite an amazing event. Time to get painting again. I also need to start designing. I spoke to Matt from fearpassage about doing some logo and website design. I am really excited to start doing some fun/creative work again. I am looking forward to creating visuals to go with their music.

Here are some photos from random rolls of film I haven't gotten around to posting. The scanner at the lab put some line down a few of the frames. I didn't feel like messing with it. I'll just have to rescan them.

I love this song (the whole "Oh, Inverted World" cd is great really)

Ghosts

Somehow, October has been full of memories and old acquaintances. Maybe it's fitting that I moved to Orlando ten years ago. I got some stuff back from Ana, and its been fun going back through my things I had forgotten about. Inside my old backpack was my Moonraker costume I made ten years ago, at this time of year.

This song came on while I was listening to Radio Dept. tonight. I like the video, well except for George Clooney.

Yippie Kay Yay Mother Falcon!

I got so much done on my off Friday. We decided we're going sailing tomorrow in St. Pete and I was worried I wouldn't get everything done this weekend. But I managed to get to most of it today. I finally got to check out Mother Falcon Clothing (MFC) in Thorton Park. Check it out if you're interested in getting a t-shirt printed. The owners are really cool peeps. Then I stopped in Colonial Photo & Hobby to pick up a couple of rolls of colored film and couple of B&W. My flash finally arrived today too! So, I will take my camera, maybe tomorrow night and shoot some photos. I wish I'd had it the night of the zombie party at Redlight Redlight. Then I made it to the gym for a swim. I weighed in at 194 lbs. I have lost about 16 lbs since I moved. I am trying to keep exercising to keep the trend going. I better get some sleep for tomorrow's sailing adventure. I will take some film with me to document it.

Kraftwerk

I made James a cd and had wanted to put Tour de France on it, for old times sake. Well, I was disappointed that I couldn't find the song in my iTunes. I've been trying to consolidate my music from several different HD's. James came to Orlando and borrowed some of my cd's to listen to on the drive back. I got the cd's from my parents and on my drive back to Orlando, I found an old mix cd I'd made James that had Tour de France on it. I guess good songs never die.

And speaking of great Kraftwerk songs, The Model is one of my favorite songs ever.

Treat Me Like Your Mother

I just saw this video by Dead Weather on Kitsune Noir. Mimi told me I should check out Dead Weather last week. Now I wish I'd listened to the album sooner.

Keep Forgetting

I've been enjoying watching music videos on youtube over the past couple of days. I definitely go for the stylized ones. A Lot of people don't care for Depeche Mode's videos. But I really like Anton Corbijn.

Drawn Out

Here are some drawings from the past 2 or 3 weeks. I finally got around to digitizing them. There are some drawings from Dr. Sketchy I need to post. Today I bought some new charcoal pencils. My old pencils keep breaking. I keep snapping the tip off in the sharpener. I also bought some oil paints and Jeff bought three canvases so I can begin the paintings for the living room. I can't wait to start. I need to set the projector up so I can start laying them out.

I've been wanting to hear this song for a while. I had to look up the Go! soundtrack to figure out what it was.

New Slang

The Shins have just fit my mood lately. I am not sure how they've managed to turn all of my emotions into song. I've must have listened to New Slang 20 times today (and luckily enough, it is out for Rock Band today!). This is by far the best youtube video for it.

"Dawn breaks like a bull through the hall,
Never should have called
But my head's to the wall and I'm lonely.

And if you'd 'a took to me like
A gull takes to the wind.
Well, I'd 'a jumped from my tree
And I'd a danced like the king of the eyesores
And the rest of our lives would 'a fared well.

I'm looking in on the good life I might be doomed never to find.
Without a trust or flaming fields am i too dumb to refine?
And if you'd 'a took to me like
Well I'd a danced like the queen of the eyesores
And the rest of our lives would 'a fared well."

Ugh, I usually hate posts like this. I like including videos. I hate the posting of lyrics and the sob story. But I do like looking back on old posts and remember what I was going through at the time. And well, this just seems to capture the present.

I keep feeling like there is something I am doing wrong. I'm not unhappy with my life. It just feels incomplete. And all the parts are there, but never at the same time. I am sure with all that's going on lately, I should be feeling this way. I am hoping as my allergies clear up, so will this black cloud.

Gimme Sympathy

I just watched Metric's new video. I wish they'd play in Orlando sometime soon. I guess a new video probably means a new album. Which probably means they'll touring.
