Under Painting

This is my progress three hours into the painting (one hour to trace it out, and two hours of painting). I was hoping to put more time in, but this weekend was so busy. Saturday I went to the Orlando Brewery, to the Scott Scheidly exhibit opening at the BoldHype Gallery, then for a sushi dinner, to the Irish Pub, and finally to I Bar. Sunday I went to the wine bar for Megan's b-day, went swimming and then out to at dinner. No wonder I am tired today. Below is a crappy photo I snapped with my iPhone.

More Painting

I had some more time to paint yesterday. Two more days until the artshow at work. So, I need to pick up a matte and a frame today or tomorrow. The orange in the engine cowl and the tip of the prop really stands out against all of the blue/black/gray. It's coming along pretty well. I wish I had more time. I don't think I'll be able to paint a pin-up girl on the side before Wednesday.

Studio B

I finally started painting yesterday (in what I now refer to as "Studio B", a.k.a. "the master bedroom"). I don't remember the last time I actually took some time to paint. I sketch every so often. But it has been years since I painted. I bought a set of gouache paints when A.C. Moore went out of business. Here's my progress after a day.

Outlined

Last night I set up the opaque projector I just bought. I laid out a an image of a B-25 to use for a gouache painting. I want to paint something small before I start tackling larger canvases. I can't remember the last time I painted. My plan is to finish this painting in about a week and get it into the artshow at work next week. The subject of the painting will be perfect. Here is a quick photo I took using my iPhone. So, please pardon the poor quality. I tried to sharped it in Photoshop, but there was a lot of noise.

Drawing

So, my first weekend without having to worry about the old house was great. I got to sketch several ideas for a B-25 bomber painting. I got an opaque projector to start using on some larger paintings. We used to have one at school, and it made life so much easier. Here's a sketch I worked on Saturday.

I framed and hung a print I had sitting around for a while. I am really considering ordering Mermaids (Whitefish) by Gustav Klimt. It's one of my favorite paintings by him, and it would look great in my room.
