Third Eye Blind was playing at Mardis Gras today. So, I went to go check it out. Its been a while since I'd been to Universal anyway. I got to meet the Mouth of the South Jimmy Hart today. It was really pretty random.

Reoccuring Dreams
Last night/this morning I had a couple of dreams that fall in-line with themes that are common reoccurances. They may be part of the same dream, I don't remember all of the details.
I do remember walking around a really large concrete building. Like a giant mall or museum that was 7 or 8 stories tall. I was walking around with ice skates on. I felt bad that I was ruing the blades by walking on the pavement. I didn't want to take them off because I had no other shoes. Plus, I remember feeling threatened or at least like I was being pursued. There weren't a lot of people around. I remember seeing some displays set up. I don't know if I was trying to find the exit, or find someone else I was there with. I wondered around through endless dimly lit hallways.
After pushing my way through a stuck door, I found myself on the roof next to gigantic air conditioning units. I could hardly see because it was so bright outside. I felt that I was vulnerable on the open roof, so I went back in the doorway. I rushed through the maze of halls, but could not find my way back.
Later on, the scene changed. Probably because my alarm woke me up and I fell back asleep. It was now night time and it was very dark outside. I was riding in a van with my family. We were trying to find a bridge so that we could go outside and look up at the stars without any light pollution from the city. We were having a hard time finding the bridge because of the heavy darkness. I climbed out onto some kind of part of the van that had a glass roof and a glass front. I was able to see the reflection of the blue moon on the water and new the bridge lay ahead. As we approached the bridge I saw that it was very long because the other end faded off into the horizon.
We drove out a couple of miles and my dad decided to stop so we could all get out. Oddly enough, we pulled over to the side of the bridge where there was a gigantic factory. I was surprised that there would be such a large building out in the middle of the open water. I didn't want to be by the large building, and I was mad that my father hadn't parked on the farside of the lanes where there was some sort of viewing platform.

Yesterday

Having only shot a rifle only once before, I was a little nervous about going to the gun range yesterday. My friend from work asked if I wanted to go, and I thought it would be an interesting way to spend an afternoon. Plus, I was really anxious to see the P-90 tactical assault rifle. I've seen it in video games and movies before. I've always thought the design was really radical compared to other rifles. Finally, I was up to shoot. The gun was calibrated and my nerves were on edge. The people on the lane next to us were shooting an AR-15 which was really fucking loud. So I was anticipating the P-90 to be the same. The first time I shot, I shot a WInchester 300 Magnum. I was ready for the recoil, and mangaed to catch the back of the scope on my brow. The P-90 had really low recoil and was really quiet comparatively. I shot three rounds and brought the target back in. My grouping was really tight. My friend asked if I had shot 3 rounds, because there were only two holes. Then he noticed that two of the hols were stacked, and that 2 rounds nearly passed through the same hole. It ended up being a lot of fun. I would defininetly consider going again. Afterwards I got to hang out at my friends house. I also got to play Portal which I have been looking forward to for a while. I really like playing puzzle games. Portal challenges you to think about spatial relationships in entirely different ways.

Self Worth
Lately, I don't seem to be able to turn down any work. Because I my background is in digital media, I don't feel like my co-workers always take my input for what its worth. Consequently, I think that I try to complete every task that is sent my way. Like I have to prove myself. That just because I took painting and figuring drawing classes, does not mean that I don't understand electronics or engineering drawings. This has caused me to get overloaded at work. It seems that when you prove yourself proficient at something, they tend to keep throwing more work your way. Luckily, I like a good challenge, and I am willing to learn new things.

Mental Deterioration
Working all weekend has made my brain tired. I am seriously considering going to bed and its not even 10 yet. Last night I went to bed before midnight. I got home and was in bad mood. Not that I was mad or anything. Just tired. I can't wait for this deadline to come and go.
My web design class has been really interesting. I know enough to be able to listen to the instructor while I mess around coding HTML in notepad. I like being able to see what changing a bit of code will affect. I also fixed some ugly borders in this blog with my newfound knowledge. It makes me want to do something creative again.

Wait for it
Hopefully, my patience is paying off. Sometimes I feel like I put up with a lot of crap. But because I do, kharma or whatever it is repays me. Not that I believe there is a divine force handing out cookies or something. I think that if you try hard to be a decent person, good opportunities will present themselves. If you're an ass, than no one will want to be bothered with you.
Maybe this year will bring those opportunities. Some parts of my life have reached resolution. Other parts didn't exist until this past year. And I've been feeling really good about all of it.
I signed up to take a web development course at work. I didn't want to give up my time, but after thinking about it for a bit. I realized I can now use that time to create the website I have been talking about for the past 8 months. I have also been thinking about creating a childrens book for my niece. Here's a link to the story I want to base it on. Its a Grimm's fairy tale called "The Wolf and the Seven Kids". The story says they're goats, but my Grandmother used to tell us her own version of the story, and I believe that they were rabbits. I'll have to ask my sister and brother about it. The idea of writing a book based on the story my grandmother used to tell is a really cool idea. Especially, since I want to give it to my niece. It will be like handing down a bit of our heritage. Plus, I am going to illustrate it. The hard part for me is the writing, and that will already be pretty well fleshed out.
Here are some existing illustrations I found online-

So this is the New Year
Last night I decided to stay home. No one planned any parties. I didn't feel like going out and dealing with massive amounts of people. So, I stayed home and made phone calls to friends and watched the Departed. It just kind of came and went. But then again, so did 2007. I feel like I have been floating through life with only pin pricks to remind me its not just a dream. It's not that I don't go out and do stuff. I just don't feel like I have made any great steps forward.
