Never Ending Dream

This morning I dreamt that I was at EPCOT with Scott We were waiting outside of this stadium trying to get in to see Boys II Men. I really can’t tell you why. I have no actual desire to go see Boys II Men The security guy wouldn’t let us in, and we were trying to tell him it wasn’t going to be filled to capacity because, well it was Boys II Men. Finally after they let everyone in, the guard said that there are usually extra seats held over and that we could go sit there. He said that we’d find RA-130 suitable (or some weird number like that). I remember thinking that 130 sounded really high up there, and it was. So Scott and I were going crazy trying to find these awful seats. And we got to 130, but RA was on the other side of this big inaccessible structure. So, we had to walk back down and around. Then we ended up behind where we needed to be, but were blocked off by some bars. I thought to myself that it was too bad we couldn’t squeeze through the bars, and when I turned around I saw Scott had somehow done just that when I wasn’t looking. He was suddenly on the other side. I tried, but the bars were like 6 inches apart. So, I just said I’d go back down and work my way up through the crowded aisle. I started heading down and could see that I needed to get to the stairway on the far side (again). So, I got over there and slowly worked my way through the crowd. But the stairs of the aisle didn’t go up far enough. Over in the corner, I saw there was another narrow, kind of winding stairway. So I headed up that, only to find that it still didn’t get to where I needed to go. I was aggravated because I really didn’t want to see the concert, and at that point I knew it was probably more trouble to try and leave. I then noticed I could climb up the railings and get up to the higher levels. I began to climb up and was nervous I’d fall. Then I finally saw that the seats were across the way and I was going to have to shimmy across the front a high balcony. Finally my alarm went off and woke me up. But I was exhausted as if I was really dragging myself through it all. And no matter how close I got to my destination, it was always out of reach.

These are kind of typical of the types of places I dream myself lost in. I guess its been a while since I have had a dream like this, but as I think about it some more throughout the day, I realize its a common theme for me.

Keep Forgetting

I've been enjoying watching music videos on youtube over the past couple of days. I definitely go for the stylized ones. A Lot of people don't care for Depeche Mode's videos. But I really like Anton Corbijn.

Dante's Inferno

The air conditioner (or as we call it "Life Support") died on Monday. I woke up and felt like it was pretty hot upstairs. I checked the thermostat and saw the temp was higher than the thermostat was set for. That seemed odd. I also heard a noise that sounded like someone was listening to music in another room. It was kind of garbled and indistinguishable. I am usually the last to leave, so I knew that more than likely, no one else was home. I walked downstairs, and found the noise was coming from the air handler. I looked at the vent where the intake is, and saw condensation and ice. Damn you! It finally got fixed yesterday afternoon. It was pretty crappy sleeping a night without it. I crashed downstairs on the couch. It was still hot (but not as bad as the upstairs). And all of the cat and dog hair was murder on my allergies. I slept three whole hours and was a miserable soul the whole next day. I guess that's why the call it Hell. I actually got to work early because I didn't want to be in the Inferno any longer than I had to.

I know I sound so spoiled. Waaaah, the a/c doesn't work. I guess you just get used to it always being there. Especially in Florida. Then you just take it for granted until it stops running.

Old Drawing from Books A Million

Weird, I was just thinking about when I used to draw when I worked in the Books A Million (BAM) cafe. That was kind of a fun job. I got to draw (on the low down, so I didn't get screamed at by my banshee of a manager) when it was slow there... like always. That seems so long ago. I used to also order really expensive artbooks I couldn't afford under fake names so I could look through them up at the customer service desk. Or I'd check them out and take them home. We didn't have the internet except for being able to look up books. so, I tried to run a GameBoy Advanced emulator off the cash register (it was just a windows based p.c. after all). But that didn't work. Instead, I took screen captures of the desktop and made it the wallpaper. Then I hid all of the icons and toolbar. Watching people try and figure it out while the customer was standing right there was pretty amusing.

Under Painting

This is my progress three hours into the painting (one hour to trace it out, and two hours of painting). I was hoping to put more time in, but this weekend was so busy. Saturday I went to the Orlando Brewery, to the Scott Scheidly exhibit opening at the BoldHype Gallery, then for a sushi dinner, to the Irish Pub, and finally to I Bar. Sunday I went to the wine bar for Megan's b-day, went swimming and then out to at dinner. No wonder I am tired today. Below is a crappy photo I snapped with my iPhone.

I just ordered this T-shirt. I love the graphic!

NinjaRotica

Dr. Sketchy at Tatame was so much fun last week. Here are my drawings of the ninja. Unfortunately, drawing a figure cloaked in darkness in a dimly lit room was a bit of a challenge. It was so much fun none the less.

I couldn't help but think of the Ultra Love Ninja by MK 12.

Drawn Out

Here are some drawings from the past 2 or 3 weeks. I finally got around to digitizing them. There are some drawings from Dr. Sketchy I need to post. Today I bought some new charcoal pencils. My old pencils keep breaking. I keep snapping the tip off in the sharpener. I also bought some oil paints and Jeff bought three canvases so I can begin the paintings for the living room. I can't wait to start. I need to set the projector up so I can start laying them out.

I've been wanting to hear this song for a while. I had to look up the Go! soundtrack to figure out what it was.

Marie Antoinette

Last night I finally watched Marie Antoinette. I watched about 20 minutes of it about 8 months ago. It was a really interesting telling of the story. It was interesting to see how young she was. Although, they didn't live as long. So the life of a 15 year old isn't comparable to the life of a 15 year old in our time. She just didn't want anything to do with the politics of it all. I can see her point of view. It looked so arduous to have to go through all of the ritual that seemed so silly. But I wonder if it was really that bad? The movie kind of showed her as a victim. She was forced to live this life and wasn't allowed to be a child. She chose to party and buy clothes rather than be involved with the country. I know the movie wasn't meant to be an accurate portrayal, and I didn't expect it to be. I did enjoy the movie, and I loved the soundtrack (especially the Radio Dept.). I need to go dig up my Adam Ant cd now.

Watching Lost in Translation got me interested in watching Marie Antoinette. I remember seeing the trailer in the theatre and it was exciting to hear New Order (Ceremony) in combination with a period film. It was a great anachronism. I really enjoyed Sophia Coppola's vision in Lost in Translation. I'll have to go back and rewatch the Virgin Suicides now.

Tabula Rasa

After talking to Jeff for a bit, I realized I was kind of experiencing the same thing he was. Kind of a clean slate. With people, with experiences, with whatever. Now I am back at the start of all things. And maybe a little better off this time.

I saw this the other day and rather enjoyed it. I just like the styling. The Fleet Street Scandal shop has got some really cool shirts and prints. I am considering getting the art book (my weakness).

And that vid reminds me of this old MK 12 Man of Action video. I don't think I've watched this since college.

I am dying to work on some kind of project. I've got some more drawings to post if I can get my camera working. I'll get to them sometime this week. Anyone working on anything cool?
