San Juan Airport (SJU)

So tired. I just flew home Puerto Rico today. I'll post some photos either tomorrow or Sunday. Meanwhile, here is a sketch I did while sitting in San Juan Airport today.

Blog Translator

I added some links under the banner (the little country flags). Google Analytics shows that my blog has been getting a good amount of hits from people all over the world. Adding the ability to easily translate my blog will hopefully encourage more people to read through it. Of course, I don't know how accurate the translations will be. I am not certain if they all work. I found a web page that explained the html that was used to link the page to the Google Language Tools. The country flags were from a different site. If anyone finds any issues with the translation links, please let me know and I'll take a look at it. Meanwhile, I hope everyone enjoys reading.

One Year Ago...

One year ago, I was traveling all over the place. I started with a trip out to Texas, where I was going to attend a conference for work. I was also going to spend some time with my pregnant sister who lives about 100 miles outside of Ft. Worth. Well, read the entry from a year ago if you haven't heard the story already. Anyway, now Cassie is a year old already. It really makes you realize that time is flying by as you watch a baby grow up. I am sure when it is my child the time will pass even faster. Here are some captured moments from Cassie's first birthday.

Previously on Lost...

After a few beers and dinner, we were all sitting around remembering all the things we did in the past couple of years. Sometimes its good to remember the good, bad, and great times. And hearing others tell their sides of your stories always adds more dimension to it.

Beowulf

That's what we say when something is "bleh". I went to figure drawing today. It's been a while. And I say Beowulf. I didn't feel confident in my mark making. Which is exactly why I need to go more often. The model was a bit tough to draw. It's just so much easier when the model has nice definition. It helps to define their contours and the forms just appear. That didn't happen today. Regardless, here are a couple of drawings.

Point of View

Today we went and viewed a bunch of ridiculously priced high rise apartments. They were really cool. Damn there's a great view from the 28th floor. But it just kept coming back to how much more expensive it really ends up being. Its not worth it. I'd rather use the money to go see some more of Europe or Asia. Its always nice to go out there and refocus yourself. It helps you to remember how well off you really are.

The image below is a test render of a tv camera. Very exciting I know. Its the start of me modeling some components to populate the head of my robot thing (see the sketch in the July 16 post). So, there will be more details added as well as more components. Hang in there, it will be cool when its completed. This blog is here for me to post works in progress as well as to show some of the development. Hopefully, someone will find this interesting.

This was modeled in Maya and rendered with the default Maya software render engine.

New Feature

I added that little box on the right there in the hope that people visiting my blog would leave a message. I thought it would be interesting to see what everyone else had to say. So, please feel free to use it.

I watched the Kingdom a few nights ago. The best part of the movie for me was the introduction. I liked the way it was all mixed together with different motion graphics and video clips.

Lost in Translation

I really enjoyed watching Lost In Translation last night. Japan looks so amazing. Anyway, I just loved how the two characters were so isolated but were able to find comfort and understanding in each other. They were happier in that moment than they were in their everyday drudgery. But still they knew it could only be perfect in that moment and could not last outside of it.
